I’ve spent years working in property - in Queensland, with Ray White in Auckland, and later running a licensed Exclusive Buyers Agency that represented buyers only. Over that time, I saw something that never sat right with me.
Most first‑home buyers were walking into the biggest financial decision of their lives with almost no real guidance. They were expected to understand LIMs, titles, auctions, tenders, off‑the‑plan contracts, due diligence, and legal documents, all while trying to protect their deposit and their future.
I watched people do their best with the information they had. I watched them ask the right questions, and miss the crucial ones. I watched them trust advice from people whose job was to sell to them, not protect them. And I saw the consequences. A missed clause. A hidden issue. A rushed decision. A detail buried in a report. For some, it cost hundreds of thousands of dollars. For many, it cost the dream they had spent years saving for.
I saw it happen far too often. And I knew it didn’t have to be that way.
